Country superstar Carrie Underwood can celebrate this week. (January 16)

Underwood earns her 25th number one single on the Country Mediabase this week with the latest hit from her fifth album, Storyteller. "Dirty Laundry" rises to the top of the country field.

Look for "Dirty Laundry" to rise from 2 to 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart as well on Monday. By doing so, Underwood will have achieved 3 consecutive number one singles from her album Storyteller. "Laundry" joins "Heartbeat" and "Church Bells" on the list, both of which topped the Airplay last year.

It also marks Carrie's 16th overall number one on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. That record makes Underwood the female artist with the most number one hits there.

In comparison to other country artists, only Reba McEntire outpaces Underwood among women for number one hits. Very few female acts have received the level of support that both women have enjoyed from country radio.

Underwood's success on radio no doubt goes hand in hand with her ability to connect with millions. Her Storyteller Tour was the number one country tour for 2016, having sold over 1 million tickets and stopping in 7 countries.

Since bursting onto the music scene in 2005, Underwood has received 7 Grammy awards and 11 American Music Awards, among many other achievements. Her nearly unprecedented success will no doubt be one for the history books, as upcoming female country artists find it increasingly hard to score number one hits in country's male-dominated charts. Perhaps the only new female artist who could replicate Underwood's success is Kelsea Ballerini, who enjoyed a string of number one singles in 2016.

Still, Carrie paved the way for modern women to effortlessly blend the two worlds of country and pop. Her single "Before He Cheats" was her most notable mark to date, having been nominated for several Grammys and peaking within the top 10 of the pop charts.

Since then, Underwood has emerged as a leading act in the country genre. She was invited to join the Grand Ole Opry in 2008, and was the first female in history to twice win Entertainer of the Year at the ACM Awards, followed closely by Taylor Swift. Swift, of course, made a move over to pop music.

For someone who got their start on a now-cancelled reality singing show called American Idol, Underwood has surely outdone all expectations career-wise.
